Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) is nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the aquatic environment. GUE focuses upon three primary areas of influence including Conservation, Education and Exploration. GUE conservation initiatives include GUE’s flagship Project Baseline which seeks to catalogue and preserve the state of threatened aquatic environments. GUE educational programs expand public awareness of threats placed upon the aquatic realm while robust scuba diver training limits the risk imposed by divers worldwide. Meanwhile, a vibrant commitment to exploration and documentation highlights threatened environments while providing essential data necessary for their protection. Triton’s teams up with GUE whenever a need for technical diving arises and has regularly worked with GUE at depths up to 100 meters.
Project Baseline is a nonprofit initiative developed by Global Underwater Explorers (GUE). Project Baseline empowers divers to protect the world’s springs rivers, lakes and oceans by creating communities with a permanent, positive presence for the environment. This initiative leverages the passion of volunteers and divers to catalogue the current state of environmental quality within threatened aquatic environments around the world. This citizen scientist initiative empowers those most attached to the environment with the tools needed to effect lasting change. The process of cataloging environmental conditions not only provides useful data needed in the planning and protection arenas; this data also highlights environmental quality in a way that engages activism among the communities’ stakeholders. Triton works with Project Baseline to gather baseline data at depths beyond where GUE’s citizen scientists can dive.
