Triton Submarines, the world’s leading manufacturer of personal submersibles, announces the successful completion and certification of our latest model, the Triton 3300/1 MD. This compact, lightweight, single-person submersible was designed as the ideal platform for filming, science, salvage, rescue or recreation to depths of 1,000 meters (3,300 feet).

The Triton 3300/1 MD offers the pilot a breathtaking view from inside a climate-controlled pressure hull made largely of transparent acrylic. Like all Triton submersibles, the Triton 3300/1 MD is simple to operate, easy to maintain, reliable and safe. The Triton 3300/1 MD was commissioned by U-Dive Ltd, a subsidiary of U-Group Malta, and assembled at Triton’s Vero Beach, Florida manufacturing facility.

The Triton 3300/1 MD was transported by air to Malta where Factory, Harbor and Sea Acceptance Trials were successfully completed, observed by a DNV/GL (Det Norske Veritas/Germanischer Lloyd) inspector diving on U-Group’s second submersible, a Triton 3300/3. Both vessels were deployed from the client’s unique and dedicated submersible support vessel, the DSV U-Boat Navigator.

The Triton 3300/1 MD is classed X100A5 submersible by DNV/GL and is the first of four projects currently underway at Triton Submarines, which are being completed in collaboration with this highly respected and internationally recognized  certification agency.

With the DNV/GL certification process now complete, U-Dive Malta intends to use the Triton 3300/1 MD primarily as a film platform for documentaries they have planned in the Mediterranean and other locations worldwide. Upcoming projects include dives to the shipwreck of the HMHS (His Majesty’s Hospital Ship) Britannic, which sank in November 1916, after striking a submerged mine off the coast of Greece during World War I.
